It’s been a busy spring for the community outreach team, led by Natalia Trimnell (pictured above).  Recently, PHC participated in CelebrAsian in Des Moines, Summerfest in Ames and Family Night at the Library in Boone. It was great to connect with our patients and friends in these communities!

PrideFest – June 10, 2017 – June 11, 2017

The annual Pride Festival celebration promotes acceptance, tolerance, and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community through education, programming, and visibility. You will find The Project of PHC’s booth in the Iowa Workforce Development parking lot in the East Village. Say hi as we walk by in the parade as well!

World Refugee Day – June 10, 2017

The Des Moines area celebration of World Refugee Day will take place on Saturday June 10th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Callanan Middle School at 3010 Center St. Des Moines.

Juneteenth – June 17, 2017

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. This event is about legacy and fun! Look for us at Evelyn Davis Park as part of the Juneteenth “Neighbors Day” celebration.

Multi-Cultural Market – June 19, 2017

This monthly event will feature ethnic and multicultural products like textiles, artisan goods, food and other fun activities! Look for us at the corner of 6th Avenue and Washington Street.

80/35- July 7, 2017 – July 8, 2017 

80/35 is an annual two-day progressive indie and jam music festival in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. As many as 50 national, regional, and local bands perform on multiple stages. A combination of free and paid stages, as well as collaboration with local businesses, nonprofits, and other community builders makes the event a source of great value for central Iowa’s economy and culture.
