Refugee Summit- Oct 6-7, 2017

Together with community partners business, government, education, and nonprofit, United Way of Central Iowa and the Refugee Alliance of Central Iowa (RACI) are hosting the 2017 Refugee Summit. The goals of the Summit are to celebrate the accomplishments of refugees in central Iowa and raise awareness about the ways they enrich our community and how we can support our new neighbors.

Ames PrideFest- October 14, 2017

Join Ames Pride and the Ames Public Library for the first annual Pridefest in Ames, Iowa! There will be entertainment, resources, vendors and great food. Join us in building community for all LGBTQIA+ people in the Ames area. All ages welcome!

Drake Halloween Hoops- October 24, 2017

The Drake Law Public Service Scholars are hosting Halloween Hoops at the Bell Center on Drake’s campus (1421 27th Street). The event is free and open to all Des Moines area children ages 3-11. Halloween Hoops is a fun, safe, and family-friendly community event. Various activities are planned, including face painting, basketball, musical chairs, candy, and games.

Teen Talk (Title X Outreach/Education event) – October 27, 2017

Primary Health Care is hosting Teen Talk, a health education program aimed at high school and middle school aged teens. The event will be held at The Olmsted Center on the Drake University campus, on Friday, October 27, 2017. The event is FREE and opened to all middle/high school aged students!

Fall Family Festival with a Trunk- October 29, 2017

Annual Fall Family Festival with a trunk. This year’s event will occur on Sunday, October 29 from 2-4pm at the Camp Dodge Pool Pavilion. The trunk-or-treat station at the event is a huge hit with the families and is also a great way for organizations to provide information about available resources to military families.
