Exercise has many benefits that will improve your physical health, mental health, and emotional well-being. Here are a few of the reasons why:

  • Boosts your immune system
  • Fights many chronic diseases (including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes)
  • Increases strength, flexibility, and endurance of daily life
  • Improves sleep patterns
  • Releases hormones that make you feel good

Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle!

The Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that you get 150 minutes of physical activity per week, or 30 minutes, five days a week.

It might feel difficult to fit exercise into your schedule, but any activity is better than none! Ten minutes of activity at a time is okay. Here are some ways you can make exercise fit into your daily routine:

  • Have Fun
Choose activities that you want to do and don’t pick activities that feel like a chore. Walking, biking, jumping jacks, yoga and joining a sports team are just a few examples.
  • Be Active in Your Daily Life
You don’t have to join a gym to get your body moving. Take the stairs, garden or dance around your house. Any movement is good as long as it makes you feel good!
  • Take a Break from Technology
Pay attention to the amount of time you spend on your cell phone, the internet or watching TV. Try cutting that time in half and using your new free time to go outside and move!
