Dr. Bery Engebretsen, MD, has served as the Chief Medical Officer and leader of Primary Health Care since 1982. During that time the organization has grown to serve more than 37,000 people per year and includes 15 clinics in Des Moines, Marshalltown and Ames.
“Dr. Engebretsen has shaped and created PHC into the organization that it is today, serving as PHC’s leader and visionary for the last 37 years and as a national leader as well,” said Kelly Huntsman, CEO of PHC.
Engebretsen will be staying on to operate the Wellness Center three days a week and will continue to participate in the operation of the PHC residency programs. His new role at the organization will be Chief Visionary.
“I am looking forward to focusing on prevention and wellness activities for our patients,” said Engebretsen.
Dr. Heidi Shreck the current Medical Director of PHC will be taking over as Chief Medical Officer of PHC.
