Nathan Simpson Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Primary Health Care, Inc.
DES MOINES, Iowa – November 18, 2024 – The Board of Directors of Primary Health Care, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Nathan Simpson, MHA, as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. Simpson will officially assume the role on December 8, 2024, following the retirement of Kelly Huntsman, who will step down after a distinguished 36 year career with PHC.
“After thorough succession planning and a comprehensive search process, the board is pleased to have found the best individual to assume the Chief Executive Officer role,” said Board of Directors Chair Ben Bellus. “Nathan’s vision, business acumen, operational leadership experience and deep understanding of PHC’s mission set him a part from a competitive pool of final candidates,” added Bellus.
Simpson has been PHC’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2020, after joining the organization in 2012 as a clinic administrator. He’s held various clinical and program management positions within PHC since then. Simpson’s leadership experience also includes his service as a Squad Leader in the United States Army, where he developed strong skills in team management, strategy, and operational efficiency.
Simpson, 42, graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1999 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in communications from Simpson College as well as a master’s in health administration from Des Moines University. He and his wife Cassie reside in Ankeny with their two daughters, Ava and Olivia.
