February is National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month, a time to recognize the vital role that school-based health centers (SBHCs) play in supporting student health and academic success. By providing accessible, on-site medical and behavioral health services, SBHCs ensure that students receive the care they need without missing valuable classroom time.
At Primary Health Care (PHC), we are proud to partner with Des Moines Public Schools to operate three school-based health clinics located at Hoover High School, East High School, and the Kurtz Opportunity Center. These clinics are open to all DMPS students, offering services such as immunizations, well-child exams, sports physicals, acute care, reproductive health services, and behavioral health support. Our goal is to remove barriers to healthcare access, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.
We invite you to join us in celebrating National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month by learning more about our services and how they benefit the community. Together, we can continue to support the health and well-being of our students, paving the way for a brighter future.
