PHC’s School-Based Health Clinics Student Advisory Council
Applications now open for 2025 – 2026 school year
Are you a Des Moines Public Schools sophomore, junior, or senior interested in a career in health care or advocating for better health care for teens and young adults?
The Council is winding down its third year, with student representation from Roosevelt, North, East, Central Campus, and Hoover High Schools.
The purpose of the Student Advisory Council
- Raise awareness among Des Moines Public Schools’ students that healthcare is available to them through school-based health clinics.
- The council begins the year brainstorming ideas on an important health related issue they would like to select as their project. Previous councils produced a podcast, copywriting for the PHC website, created flyers, and giving presentations to teachers and principals at their respective schools (raising awareness of PHC’s school based health clinics).
This is an interactive leadership opportunity for students and always them to connect with other students, teachers, and administrators who are passionate about improving healthcare for teens and young adults.
