Colorful banners and streamers promoting PHC Community Night

National Health Center Week takes place August 6 to 12, providing an opportunity to raise awareness about the mission and services of community health centers like Primary Health Care. We are excited to celebrate our patients, lift up the work of our amazing staff, and share our gratitude to the communities we serve.

To celebrate National Health Center Week, PHC is once again hosting a FREE community-wide, family-friendly event on Wednesday, August 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This year, we will be at our Ames Clinic, located at 3510 Lincoln Way. All are welcome to discover local health and human service resources, enjoy the kid friendly activities, and learn more about PHC’s offerings. We hope you will join us!

In 2022, PHC served 40,427 patients. In addition to medical and dental services, PHC also offers specialty care including:

  • Pediatrics
  • Midwifery and family planning
  • Behavioral health
  • Medication assisted treatment
  • Homeless support services
  • HIV and STI testing, treatment, and prevention

According to healthcenterweek.org, community health centers (CHCs) offer comprehensive care to more than 30 million patients at 14,500 service delivery sites across the nation. CHCs are nonprofit organizations driven by the mission to improve the health and well-being of their communities. By providing highly coordinated and integrated care, community health centers save the healthcare system more than $24 billion annually in reduced emergency, hospital, and specialty care costs.
