We want to let you know about an important update to pharmacy services in Ames.
The last day to pick up prescriptions at the Ames pharmacy pick-up location is December 19, 2025.
Starting December 20, 2025, there will be new ways for you to get your medicines. These changes are part of improvements happening across PHC Pharmacy.
How You Can Get Your Medicines After December 19
1. Have Your Medicine Mailed to Your Home
Many medicines can be mailed directly to your house.
How it works:
- There is a $5 mailing fee
- A pharmacist will call you to review your medicine before it is mailed
- Copays + mailing fee must be paid with a credit or debit card
- We cannot mail:
- Medicines that must stay cold (refrigerated)
- Controlled substances
- Mail delivery is a good option if you want fast, easy access without traveling.
2. Pick Up at a Different PHC Location
You can pick up your medicines at:
- University Pharmacy in Des Moines
- Marshalltown Pharmacy pick-up location
These sites offer safe, friendly service and access to the same PHC pharmacy team.
What About Refrigerated Medicines?
Some medicines must stay cold. These cannot be mailed.
For these medicines:
- You can pick them up in Ames
- They will be delivered to Ames every Tuesday
- You may pick them up any time the clinic is open
- A pharmacist will call you for counseling and payment before we send them
This system will help make sure your refrigerated medicine stays safe and effective.
