Care from Home with Telehealth

Connect with your Primary Health Care provider by video for medical and behavioral health visits.

Use MyChart to join your visit, message your care team, and manage your health.

Telehealth visits are available to patients located in Iowa at the time of the appointment.

What Is Telehealth?

Telehealth lets you meet with your health care provider by video using your phone, tablet, or computer.

At Primary Health Care, telehealth visits are available for both medical care and behavioral health services, including therapy and counseling.

What Can Be Treated with Telehealth?

Telehealth may be a good option for:

  • follow-up visits
  • medication management
  • minor illnesses
  • ongoing health conditions
  • behavioral health visits, including therapy

If a virtual visit is not the best option, your provider will help schedule an in-person appointment.

How Telehealth Works

Telehealth visits are simple and designed to make care easier to access.

  1. Schedule your appointment – Your visit may be scheduled for medical care or behavioral health, depending on your needs.
  2. Complete your check-in – Before your appointment, check in through MyChart or wait for a call from our team.
  3. Join your virtual visit – At the time of your appointment, you will connect with your provider by video using your phone, tablet, or computer.
  4. Get the care you need – Your provider will talk with you about your concerns and help decide next steps. If an in-person visit is needed, we can help with that too.

Important Information About Telehealth Visits

Telehealth visits are available to patients who are physically located in the State of Iowa at the time of their appointment.

This is required for your provider to deliver care safely and follow state guidelines.

Telehealth is one way we make it easier to get care when you need it.

A few simple steps can help your telehealth visit go smoothly.

  1. Choose a quiet, private space
Find a place where you can speak comfortably and without interruptions.
  2. Check your device and connection
Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is charged and connected to the internet.
  3. Complete your check-in ahead of time
Use MyChart or be available for a call from our team to confirm your information before your visit.
  4. Have your information ready
Keep a list of your medications, symptoms, or questions nearby so you can make the most of your visit.
  5. Be ready a few minutes early
Being prepared before your appointment time helps your visit start on time.
  6. Plan for your environment
Position your device so your provider can see and hear you clearly. If possible, avoid distractions during your visit.
