Keeping with the theme of Mental Health Awareness Month, we know that emotional well-being isn’t just supported in the exam room—it’s also built through strong, caring communities. At Primary Health Care, we take a holistic approach to caring for our patients, including behavioral health and well being.. thanks to the support of people like you, we’re expanding that care every day.
💬 Real Help, Real People
Since January of last year, our behavioral health team has served 5,411 patients across our clinics (1,342 patients for the first quarter of 2025). That number includes children, teens, adults, and seniors—each one with their own story, their own challenges, and their own goals for healing.
We know that mental health care isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why our providers meet patients where they are—with compassion, skill, and culturally informed care.
🏥 Bridging the Gaps in Care
We’re especially proud of the way our programs work together, in the past few months, PHC’s behavioral health team received 31 internal referrals from our Homeless Support Services program. These are individuals facing some of the toughest circumstances imaginable. Because of your support, they have access to the behavioral health care they need to rebuild.
📊 A Breakdown of Who We Serve
67% women
42% patients insured through Medicaid
33% patients use our sliding fee scale
16% of patients are under 18
6% of patients were reported experiencing homelessness
The behavioral health team is seeing more patients who are at retirement age (62 and older) and elderly (71 and older), a reminder that mental health affects everyone. The wrap-around services provided by PHC help patients access other resources they may need, help with enrollment to benefits they may be eligible for and facilitate referrals to specialty care.
💙 Why It Matters
Behind every number is a neighbor, a friend, a family member. Someone who reached out for help—and found it. Every data point reflects a real person: a young adult facing anxiety, a parent coping with depression, an individual rebuilding after trauma. Your support ensures they’re met with care, not barriers.
Thanks to you, patients are receiving life-changing mental health support—whether they have insurance, financial hardship, or are experiencing housing instability.
Because of donors like you we are able to expand access to behavioral health care accessible to all people.
PHC is a 501(c)(3), non-profit community health center, your contribution is tax deductible.
